Foxes guarding hen houses, you know the saying. Unfortunately Lansing Republicans see the fox as “over regulated”. They recently passed a set of bills in the State Senate (SB652-654) that would allow the Governor to appoint industry officials to DEQ oversight boards giving them final say over permitting and rule-making.
I don’t let my kids watch the cookie jar and we shouldn’t give polluters authority over the environment. You know, companies like Enbridge Energy that dumped 1,000,000 gallons of oil in the Kalamazoo River. Or like Wolverine Worldwide who spilled toxic fluorochemicals for decades contaminating local drinking water wells in Belmont.
It’s vital to our environment and health that legislation does not become law. It must be stopped in the Michigan House.
